‘We are happy to announce The Range will open April 3rd, its earliest opening ever. “Its been an unusual spring in Whistler” said Alan Kristmanson, General Manager. “We have moved up opening day of the golf course to May 1st. The course looks great already and with some warm weather our crew will get at opening preparations.”
Here’s an update from “the Super”
‘Spring has come early to Whistler Valley. We are usually blowing snow off tees and greens this time of year, instead we are watching the course slowly green up. Our new bent grass greens survived nicely under another rough start of winter, under ice and snow for almost 50 days. All the turf on the course is still dormant with exception of tree wells and south facing banks. The turf is very susceptible to damage due to the ongoing cold temperatures over night. The Maintenance team has been concentrating on tree work around the course making it more and more playable. Moving forward the roots on the greens are looking strong and we should be starting to mow surfaces before the end of March, at least three weeks ahead of schedule.’
