The Whistler Golf Club is excited to announce a major golf course infrastructure renovation beginning September 1, 2025. To allow for the full scope of improvements, the course will close for the 2026 season and is scheduled to reopen mid-summer 2027, weather permitting.
A New Chapter for Whistler Golf Club
"This project has been four years in the making, and we’re thrilled to get underway," says Alan Kristmanson, General Manager. "Our focus is on infrastructure upgrades that will elevate the playing experience for years to come."
Key elements of the renovation include:
- New tee complexes for improved playability.
- Innovative bunker designs and complete renovations.
- Fairway enhancements for better turf quality and play conditions
- Redesign of holes 3, 4, 8, and 12 for improved strategy and enjoyment.
- Full irrigation system replacement for sustainability and efficiency.
- Clubhouse restaurant and deck renovations to enhance guest comfort.
Due to Whistler’s short growing season, a full-season closure is the only way to ensure the project’s success.
Honouring Arnold Palmer's Vision
To lead the design, Whistler Golf Club selected Thad Layton, formerly of Arnold Palmer Course Design. "It was important to choose someone who understands Mr. Palmer's vision for our property," explains Kristmanson. "Thad has been a fantastic partner in shaping where we want to go."
Layton has led high-profile renovations at Seattle Golf Club, Naples Lakes Country Club, The Saticoy Club, and more. "Working with Alan and his team on this comprehensive plan has been a pleasure," says Layton. "This renovation will be a true transformation, while staying true to Arnold Palmer’s original Canadian design."
