Will you be our 1 millionth golfer?

One lucky golfer will be very surprised after they hit their tee shot on the first hole at the Whistler Golf Club this year. “I was asked by a reporter how many golfers the club has welcomed since its inception in 1983” said Alan Kristmanson, General Manager of the Arnold Palmer designed Whistler Golf Club. “I didn’t have an answer. We tend to focus on yearly rounds but it got me doing some math and turns out we will crack the 1 millionth guest mark this year.”

Our first maintenance crew with Mr. Palmer. 1983.

The 1 millionth golfer will win gear from Nike Golf and free access to the course for themselves and up to 40 friends. “It doesn’t seem that long ago but it’s been 34 years since Mr. Palmer opened his first Canadian design in Whistler. A lot of golfers have enjoyed our course over the years and we’ d like to celebrate it in style.” When asked who are some of the memorable guests that have played over the years, Alan said “We’ve had lots of guests that sports fans would recognize like hockey players, actors, etc. Condoleeza Rice showed up a few years ago. I asked her if there were snipers in the trees but she just showed up and played- she was great. Justin Bieber booked the course for a day but cancelled last minute- my kids were crushed! But it’s the regulars that keep coming back that makes our job enjoyable. It’s great seeing familiar faces year after year.”
